Ancient Aleppo Shabbat

On May 30, 2025, Kanisse, in partnership with the American Sephardi Federation, hosted an "Ancient Aleppo Shabbat" at the Jewish Theological seminary. The program included an art exhibition, a private tour of rare texts related to Aleppo, and a Shabbat prayer service according to the Ancient Aleppo rite per the Maḥzor Aram Ṣoba, a collection of medieval manuscripts and books that document the prayers of the indigenous Jews of Aleppo before the arrival of the Spanish Jews expelled in 1492.
